With the reel seat to the far left in the first picture pretty much like you would with any other fly rod.

I forgot that pen was part of the thread. I think it is safe to say that if you tried to mount a reel to that pen, that Lorne would have quite a moral quandary on his hands. He would be seriously torn between his pastoral and military trainings. He might go so far as to preach you to death! That boy can preach a sermon, too!
