Somebody ingenious needs to invent something synthetic.
For the "Chicken Heads" not the fly tyers.

Yup, times are tough and good saddle hackle (and now even capes) is getting scarce for those who fish dry flies. Luckily, I fish 90% wet flies. No shortage of hen feathers, partridge, moorhen, grouse, etc.

Happiness is wading boots that never have a chance to dry out.

When this fad ends I'm going to offer the local hair salon five bucks for what they have left. I sure hope they can't shoot straight.

I worried about buying bullets for my gunz about three years ago.
    Everything is OK now.
Not worried about chicken feathers being in short supply any time soon......
......and if I am not more creative than a trout in a stream then damn me for fishing in the first place.....

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fly fisherman buying these and selling them at a profit. As a matter of fact, it might be a good idea. Why not jump on the band wagon? They are going to buy them anyway. I'm certainly not condoning it, just stating a fact.

For the price of that first hackle, I could get a darned nice outboard motor for my jon boat.

Wa Wa Wa. Somebody found a way to make a buck and every one else wants to hang them out to dry. Rainbowchaser has the right idea, wait until the fad ends and then pick it up for pennies on the dollar.

As true today as it was in 1776.

LOL.....I took another approach. I had 6 saddles....and all duplicated a color I had in a neck as well except one of them.

SO...I sold all of the saddles on EBAY for $250-$450....then shopped around and found a great Hoffman grade-1 Black neck to replace my black saddle, 2 new Brahma hen necks, new waders, a new reel, a dozen new things for my bench....and money left over for my summer vacation.

Thanks to the folks hanging chicken fedders in their hair.

Those actuallyl went cheap!!! A few last week went for $1200+. The biggest problem right now that most folks don't realize is that as this fad evens out in one area of the US it explodes somewhere else, and the prices pick up again. I posted a picture of a bunch of Saddles I had and a lady who had registered on another board I frequent sent me a PM offering me $1200, for all of it. Only problem was I didn't have PayPal and she didn't want to send a cashiers check.

Now you have to realize that with all the med problems I've had I haven't been fishing in a year and a half and while they get my seizure meds figured out I haven't been able to play with any sharp objects so all my tying flies and jigs are just sitting in my storage box's. Believe me I've been tempted to get the PP account that kind of money would pay alot of my medical bills.
