    Default Toothy buggers

You've got to watch your fingers around those teeth! I thought I was being careful but have tooth marks on both hands.

Cool picture! I'll show my ignorance...I'm about as land-locked as you can get. What is it?

I think that is a Ladyfish. But I wouldn't bet more than a cup of coffee on it.

I admit with the picture posted above that its a bit of a tough guessing game if you're not not used to fishing the coast down here. I suppose they're not all that commonly seen as they're not so much a sport fish as a bait fish used for trolling off shore. Does a full picture give it away or just make ID more difficult?

Believe me, that's a wild guess.

That's it! Officially they're called an Atlantic Cutlassfish, but they go by ribbonfish down here. I had a chance to hit the water for a few casts before work and they were tearing up the finger mullet and I was able to catch a few. They hit hard, but aren't built for any blistering runs. Still a fun diversion on the morning commute.
