    Spinner,

Hadn't you heard? Due to a lack of interest they closed trout season.

Wintering Pools with big stuff will be the ticket next weekend. Vary your retrieve and speed and even pause a couple times. Slow is the word for cold weather trout.

    Default Minnesota fishing season?

I do go fly fishing in Wisconsin, because their trout fly fishing season is longer than in my home State of Minnesota, at least is seems that way.

In Minnesota we have two seasons, "Winter Coming!", "Winter Here!".

Some years in Minnesota, we also get Spring, Summer, and Autumn. All three are on the same weekend, and it rains all weekend long. Or at least that is the way it seems, as I hibernate in the basement of my home, on the computer doing the Beginner's Only Fly Swaps, and cleaning all my fly fishing gear is preparation for the chance to go fly fishing when "Mother Nature" allows it to happen. ~Parnelli

Many anglers look forward to opening day almost like kids waiting for Santa.
