I am wondering if anyone fishes Long Island, NY. Carmens River, Peconic River?? If so, where about do you go and where are the parking spots?

    Jim,
I usually fish the section Carmans River inside the Southaven Park which is now closed to fishing untill April. You can also fish the tidal section which is accessable from the DEC access site just east of the river on Montauk Highway near Smith Road in Southaven. If you contact the DEC Region1 Fisheries Unit at (631 444 0280) you can request a copy of the pamphlet " Fishing the Freshwaters of Long Island and New York City". This will give you a listing of lakes, ponds and rivers you can fish as well as maps and types of fish at each location. The DEC web site http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7951.html will give you more detailed information and directions about these locations.
