We should be least likely fly purchasers - but is it true

I buy local bugs.. new looking patterns and particulary bugs I no longer can/want to tye...20'22'24 etc. My days of building size 24 biot body CDC Parachute BWO's are gone. I mean I still can but I would cry like baby if I lost any of the three i tied in a day

To say the wheels come off as one gets older is being optimistic ...

I tie all my flies, its an outlet for me, keeps me from kickin the dog or beating the wife, hehehe..just joking

I tend to buy my bass and saltwater flies. My bench is set up well for trout flies....but I just don't tie enough of the others to warrant stocking the materials. Besdies, there are some awesome tyers around this place for bass poppers! :^)

I tie all my flies. I don't think I've bought a fly in over ten years actually. When I go into a shop I pick up hooks, or some tying material.

I have enough tying material to last a couple of lifetimes and I don't NEED to buy any flies. That said, I always buy something (a couple of flies, material or hardware) when I stop in a fly shop to ask for info. It's only right to buy something- gotta help them out if they're helping you out.
