Please note that the sheriff is casting a shadow right underneath the gator. Also note that the backhoe is not casting a shadow at all, let alone in the same direction as the sheriff.

    LOL!!
Not only the shadows showing in different directions, but take note of the gator's head size compared to body & the length of Troopers' left lower leg & color effect between his left foot meeting with underside of gators' body.

This reminds me of the legendary 14 foot grizzly bear in Alaska. Isn't it amazing what a person can do with a couple of photo's and a computer?

This has less to do with the angle of the shadows. It has more to do with the existence, or lack thereof, of them.

Note that the shadow of the troopers left foot is immediate and in the direction in which he is walking. The rear legs of the croc, although close to the ground, do not casta shadow.

    Hi Folks,

I see a lot of gators in these parts and
some of them have been up close and
personal. But what I notice first off is
how danged skinny the poor kritter is. If
he was a SC gator, it would take 3 people
holding hands to reach around his gut. It
looks as if the officer could reach around
him and clasp his hands. Definitly not a
local gator. We feed em a lot better than
    that. Warm regards, Jim

It's definitely fake, and I don't even have to look at shadows, actually to be it look like the shadows are done fairly well, he doesn't look that close to the ground to me, maybe 3 feet and I think the shadows would be out of the picture. It can be very difficult to determine at times exactly where a shadow should fall anyhow, because we are only interpreting where we think they should fall.

How do I determine that it's fake? It seems pretty odd that it's tail is not lying on the ground. It seems odd that someone or some thing would be holding the tail in the air by the very tip of it considering how much that tail would weigh. It probably should be lying on the ground. But here's the real clincher, look at the top of the rope. The image quality is degraded like it was cropped from without keeping the rope the same thickness AND the rope is wrapped ONCE around a tine on the bucket that is pointing almost straight down. There is no way they would be able to hold up an alligator that way.
