    That's just a big ol' shad! That pattern is actually just a slight modification of a pattern from steveks. He uses estaz or something similar for the body. It does catch fish though! If you go back, I've caught a bunch of shiners on an unweighted yellow boa yarn leech before. Shiners and shad are both stinky things... Great for cut bait!

    I can't say about fly fishing but there's a lot of feed lots in Kansas.

    3-5" I'd say. Lots of fish eat 'em... White bass LOVE em.

    Wes: According to my fish book the threadfin shad grows to about 8 inches and the gizzard shad to 15 inches.
