Everyone must believe in something and I believe in Fly Fishing and Fly Tying and believe I will...
Made that one up all by my self and I like it , probably the most original thought I have ever had, except maybe marring that great woman of mine..
As in the Army, I have never had a bad day Fly fishing, some damn uncomfortable days but never a bad one!

This one is classic, probably uttered/muttered by the first person to ever try to catch a fish! - And thats why they call it Fishing and not Catching!!!
And like flyfishfairwx heres a gem I came up with sometime during my military career. BTW, feel free to use it as the occasion arises! - So, it may be pointless but its a point none the less!!

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. (from A River Runs Through It)

"As far down the river as he could see, the trout were rising, making circles on the surface of the water, as though it were starting to rain."- E.H., The Big Two Hearted River
dunno who said it first, but:
"How was your trip?"
"Oh, the fishing was fine. Catching... not so much."
fly fishing and baseball share a totally deceptive simplicity; that's why they can both be lifelong pursuits.
I have a friend that when ever he is asked how the fishing is he says the same thing whether he has been fishing the spot for 5 minutes or 5 hours.
"Just got here."

I do that too. More to avoid a press conference than any ill will toward my fellow angler. A year or two ago, I told a guy I'd been working my way up a 50 yard stretch for the past 3 hours and he proceeded to ask questions rapid fire for about 20-30 minutes. I didn't mind helping the guy, but it wasn't exactly the way I wanted to spend the remainder of the evening hatch.
