Default Fall is coming, are you ready?

Summer has been a scorcher this year, the fall and cooler weather is coming. Fall besides all of it's beautiful colors and smells means fly fishing for Trout. So this means two things:

    1) Tying flies for fall, i.e. Montreals, Black Prince, Oak and so on.
    2) Thinking of stocking up on fly tying materials and hooks for the upcoming winter.

Number two is important because buying erly allows you to get things you need and want in quality and quantity. Waiting means every one else is now shopping making some materials harder to find.

Well being down here in the middle of East Texas on Toledo Bend I sure wish it would hurry.

    Andy,

We finally had a break in the summer heat yesterday when it cooled all the way down to 89 degrees. Today was even cooler, with a nice breeze to balance the warm sun. Fall won't officially be here, for me anyway, until we hit the Idaho Fish-In at the end of September this year and make our annual trip for Sea Run Cutthroat Trout and Summer Steelhead on the Cowlitz in October.

Fall means filling the freezer here. Doves start September first, ducks and geese start mid-October! My feather stash grows exponentially by Christmas.

Hot?? this has been the best summer in 15 years here in the Sacramento Valley. Only had a few days over 100. Sure has been nice. Summer temps have held off the high water temps of August, so fishing has been great all summer.

I predict 100 in Sac Valley by Monday afternoon or maybe Tuesday noon.
