Wish ya great fishing,Bill
Be careful when bidding your max amount, watch that decimal. I found a SB 290 bamboo rod that I wanted last year with
3-4hrs left on the auction. I put in my max bid but missed the decimal. Instead of my max bid being $200, it was $2000 and I didn't realize it. The last minute bidding frenzy started and I watched my max go by the wayside. However, it kept showing me as the high bidder. After I won, I saw what I had done. I paid a little more than I wanted, but it did sell at a fair price.
I do a manual snipe kind of thing and rarely miss. I do miss once in a while, but not often. Those that place a max bid can be picked out of the crowd by looking at the bid history. I pay a lot of attention to the numbers to the right of the decimal point. They will tell you how folks are bidding. I also wait until the last moment to enter my max bid. I do not want others knowing I am stalking the item and running the bid up. If the item goes over what I am willing to pay, I just never bid on it.

My brother uses this. They do add a percentage or a flat fee to the end of the auction price, though
