    Default Leaders

I need a few leaders. Tapered leaders only. Tip test aprox. 4-5 lbs. I need a short and long leader. I will be fishing for bass.

    Michael,

If you can tie two basic knots: the perfection loop and the triple surgeons knots, then here is a great simple, 8' all-around bass leader for you:

Using your favorite mono (I use red Cajon) cut a piec of 30# 4 feet long + a few inches for knots
tie to a 2' long piece of 20#
tie to a 2' long piece of 10#

This leader has a 50/50 taper (50% butt section, 50% tapered section) that will turn over big nasty bugs and weighted streamers very well

I tend to keep it very simple for bass leaders: this is the only taper I use except to vary the last section from 14# down to 2X flouro tippet depending on application

What does the 30#, 20#, and 10# mean? Is that a type of pound test measurment?

But that sounds like it should serve my purposes quite well.

    Thanks guys

    30# would be 30POUND
    20# would be 20POUND
    10# would be 10POUND

Michael, why do you feel the need to use tapered leaders for largemouth?
When you can arrange your affairs to go fishing, forget all the signs, homilies, advice and folklore. JUST GO.

I was not aware that anything else should be used. No one told me otherwise.
