    Default Newbie need advice

I have a trout stream just a few miles down the road and last decided to give it a try. After some success with ultralight I tried flyfishing and really enjoyed it. I dont know alot of techniques. I had a guy give me some floaters and a bead head fly and started catching fish that way. Some buddies are camping out next week and I was wondering if this technique work this time of year? Or do you have better suggestions. I have quite a few flies just not sure how to use them.

    slinger09,

The best advice I can give you is to click on Flyfishing Basics on the left menu of this page or the main page. From there check out Fly Fishing 101 and information about Casting too.

DotMan's advice is as good as you are going to get. I really learned a lot through reading thru that section. It really helped me out in the beginning. Keep having fun flyfishing and visiting this site. The best source of information for flyfishing anywhere. And dont be afraid to ask questions here....you will get good answers.

As for your situation...I would give it a try and see what happens. Sometimes a little trial and error is a good thing. If it doesnt work this time, then try something else. No matter how it works out you will have fun.

edit: I was in a simialr situation four years ago and just kind of went about things my own way and caught fish and had fun. You will learn from your experiences whether good or bad.
