Salmonid Hybrids
My son is studying fisheries management in college, and he recently told me of some very interesting experimenting to produce some new hybrids for anglers. Here are some: Breeding some highly selective feeding brown trout with rainbows (brainbow), brown x golden = golden brown (must be tasty when grilled), steelhead x cutthroat = steel cutt (probably goes well with oatmeal), golden x cutthroat = golden throat (will make your reel sing), Chinook salmon x laker = shaker (probably will fight well), laker x tiger = lager (yum)..... Then there's a unique 4 species hybrid cross: cutt x brown = crown x golden = golden crown x king salmon = kings golden crown)...
For a real challenge, try ice fishing with dry flies.
