Trout, Brown (inland) 18lbs 6ounces.. 34.3 inches Perry McKittrick Lake Geneva, WI Caught 05/07/84 Lake Geneva Walworth.
Don't see this record being broken due it being caught in a huge lake here and registered as (inland).
This record will stand.

I would release it , but I sure would want to get some pictures......how long ago was 1961 ?
Don't carry a camera.
I'd just let it go with a smile knowing I had one heck of a memory.
But I'd tell others where and how I caught it. I'd probably even give them the right fly.

It Just Doesn't Matter....
I would release it, thinking hopefully it would live to fight another day.
A fish of that size is going to be dog tired and stressed after the fight.
A picture would be nice. A quick shot while it was still partially submerged in the water.
I've been totally captivated with fly fishing for over thirty five years.

When you can arrange your affairs to go fishing, forget all the signs, homilies, advice and folklore. JUST GO.
I hope I had some sort of camera to take a pic but I think I'd let the big guy go. Knowing I caught it would be enough. I've caught some great fish , maybe not any kind of record , but never kept one just for bragging right's although it would be very tempting. Fishing since very young , fly fishing 5 year's.
I don't fish for other people.
FFing for about 7 yrs, but fishing since I could walk.

I wouldn't even blink. I SERIOUSLY doubt a fish that big lives after a fight anyway. How would you feel having released only to see a news release about a belly up 50 lb fish the next day?
I would release it so a kid have a chance at it , but i would take a pic. or two
fly fishing for 3 yr.
I'd have to release it, after a good photo to indicate the size. I'd sure as heck have a reproduction made for the wall. I wouldn't tell a soul where the beast lives. I really don't care about records. I've been fly fishing for 10 years.
(Who'd want to carry a 50lb fish out of a remote spot, anyway?)
The most valuable thing I've learned about fly fishing is just how little I really know.

I would release it in a minute. I would not tell anyone, as then others would go and kill it.
I have no interest in killing or records.
I have been flyfishing on and off for 35years.
