Angry Help With My Winston LT

    Hi All....

I have a 6'9", 5pc, 4wt, Winston LT. I haven't used it for about 18 months. Last week I got it out to use it on the St. Joe River in North Idaho. When I was assembling it, the butt section and the second section wouldn't seat together correctly. The female ferrule on the second section was too large to hold on to the male ferrule on the butt section. Suggestions? Thanks in advance and as always, Best Regards.....

Any chance you have another Winston rod and you mixed up the sections? It's hard to believe the graphite shrunk or expanded.

I've had a ferrule that developed a hairline crack and was slightly oval, I only noticed when it didn't fit over the male section. but I've never heard of one that got too big...

    Question

Like Kengore said any chance you mixed the tip sections with another
    Winston. They list a 6' 9" 5 pc as a 4wt, and there 7' 9" as there 3wt.
For the price of that Winston I would at least send it back to see what they say. Many years ago fishing with a friend our parabolic glass rods, our tip sections did get mixed and had a good laugh over that.

I only have the one LT. I looked closely at the female ferrule and I don't see any crack or out of rounding going on. I'll send it in to Winston and see what they say. Thanks, and Best Regards.....

Is something stuck in the female end? Get a light and look at it closely.

    Good Luck.

    Kelly,

    That's a good suggestion. Thanks!

    Hey Joel,
The Silver Bow is a Winston dealer. I'd take it by and have Sean take a look at it. Just maybe, he's seen that problem before.
    Good Luck,
