    Default Tippet spool holder

I have always kept tippet spools in a vest or pack pocket but would like some ideas on a holder for the spools (4) (using Frogs Hair at the moment) I can clip on my vest or a lanyard around my neck.
I have a number of Lanyard samples with clips and rings etc I can use for parts.

    I love Homemade gear.

    Thanks

    Default ...

    Dufffin Boy,
I ran into the same trouble and came up with something that works really well when using a lanyard.
I started with a regular 8" bungie with hooks on either end. I cut the one end at the length I needed to fit about five spools of tippet. I bent the other hook so it closed on itself in a sort of ring shape. Then i looked around the house and found a slider off of a sleeping bag drawstring and attached it to the open end of the bungie. The hook clips to my lanyard and the slider holds the tippet securely. I hope this makes sense and helps you out. I also love homemade accessories.

I'm sure you can devise your own version of one of these.

Believe it or not, Orvis makes a version that is even cheaper!

Those hooks & stuff can be found at camping stores, as well as the shock cord & cord-locks. Craft stores also sell stuff like that in the sewing section or you can salvage them from old gear.

Just take a bit of advice; whatever you decide on, make sure it is NOT something that fits your Frog's Hair spools in a way that the functionality will be effected if they change the spool size some day...

    ...because they will...

...as sure as the sun comes up in the morning!!

    Good luck!

    Thanks....that's all I needed was a push.
I salvaged some elastic cord & cord locks and rings and clips and made a thing of beauty for all to behold...................well it's functional.

    Default Zinger

Take a zinger -- you probably have one hanging around that came on forceps or nippers. String as many spools as you want onto the zinger's line (I use 6) and then clip anything large enough NOT to go through the holes in the tippet spools (something as simple as a big paper clip). Voila! It holds all your spools snuggly and will extend out 24" or so to take off tippet.
And if you have a zinger the cost is ZERO.
