    Default Pflueger Medalist Reelfoot

Does anyone know the significance of a "B" stamped on the undersurface of the reel foot of the medalist reel?

    Phil,
Here is the FAOL link: http://www.flyanglersonline.com/feat...es/part287.php
I could find no clues about a "B". B= Brass? It's not the Model #.

Doug, I'm guessing... but I think it may mean the reel foot is thinner and may fit more rods???????

Maybe the "B" stands for his first initial?: bill@onepfoot.com

I wouldn't hold your breath, Duck. The Pflueger brand, owned by Shakespeare, which is now owned by Jarden, recently underwent a massive reduction in force at their HQ. I hope you get an answer, but I'm guessing it won't happen or will be boilerplate.

    Default B foot

    Hello ducksterman, presumably you
mean the 'B' on the reel foot. If so I
just went and checked all of my Medalists
including the Orvis Madison model and
none had a 'B' on the foot or anywhere
that I could see. Had a thought and
checked my Pflueger Rocket level wind
and lo and behold...a 'B' stamped on the
    underside of the foot.

I'm guessing now but unless someone
mentions they have a Medalist with a 'B'
on the foot, it could be that someone put
a foot from a Rocket on your Medalist.

    Cheers,

    MontanaMoose

It may denote a 'bronze spindle' as mentioned in the 30-40 era reels mentioned in 'DShock's' post. See excerpt below......
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>.
    1930s-40s era Pflueger Medalists

    - "Trademark, Pflueger Medalist, Made in USA" on spool latch cover
    - Model #, "Patented" stamped on the reel body below the foot
    - Bronze spindle
    - Round metal Diamolite line guard
    - 6 rivets around spool latch cover
    - Amber colored plastic handle
    - Aluminum spool latch cover
    - Knurled metal drag knob
    - Sculpted cross pillars, riveted to body

I have a 6 rivet 1495 with made in Akron O USA stamped on it..guess that makes it a 1959 model???? It has the "B" stamped on the undersurface of the reelfoot..the reelfoot doesn't appear to be replaced and I has seen the "B" mentioned on many vintage medalists listed on ebay.

I know what I'll do ...ask Bill @ onepfoot.
