Default Rob's Catskill Small Streams article

    Rob, RW here,'

We are cut from the same cloth my friend.. One of the first places I head for on trips to the Catskills are the small streams and headwaters. I've fished most of the places you've mentioned. You might be interested in joining our band of brothers on FAOL's Roscoe fish-in next spring from May 31 to June 6. This will be our fourth get-together and there are usually about 25 to 30 like minded FAOL'rs that attend each year. Plenty of fly-tying in the evening, casting clinics and all around comaradarie,
plus, one of the best fishing weeks of the year for hatches. Information and sign-up sheet will be posted after the first of the year for Roscoe '06 if you're interested.
You also might want to check out the photo shoots of past Roscoe fish-ins in the index to the left on your screen, if you haven't already. You'll get a good idea of what a a great time we all have.

    Great article.

Wonderful ride along that stream....it's my kind of water. What a fine looking piece of water in those pics!

It's my kind of fishing. Man, it's gonna be a long (necessary...tying to do!) winter.

Great article, Rob. Not to state the obvious, but, your techniques and tactics apply to just about any small stream across the nation. When the big rivers here are getting heavily pressured by the salmon steelhead folks, I head for the small tribs entering the bigger rivers. A little hike leaves other anglers far behind and opens up a great deal of excellent fly water with exactly the same fish the big water guys are after.

Nice job Rob. I got tuned in to some small stream fishing here in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada this summer and I am hooked on it big time. I noticed you mentioned overlining your rod for the short casts required. I couldn't agree more. I was wondering if anyone out there knew if they make double taper lines for 3 and 4 weights.
