Very nice wee wets, Ron. Especially like the looks of the biot and herl. I like using biot bodies on soft hackles. Gives that nice slim look.

That Squirrel and Partridge looks good too. I kind of like my hackle a bit long. Just seems to act more lively in the water.

Have you tried tying your softies on a 2x short hook. I've been using the Daiichi 1640 for most of my soft hackles. The short shank and straight eye look really good and the extra wide gape along with the offset hook point really help with hook ups.

rookie; Allen McGee's recipie called for Huney Dunn Neck hackle. I used a Tan hen back I have.

REE: Actually the Squirrel n Partridge and the Biot n Hearl were tied on # 16 dry fly hooks. I was out of #16 wet fly hooks.
    I'll try the Daiichi 1640.

    Ron,

That Daiichi 1640 is also a light wire hook so your flies will fish in or just under the surface film. I've been very happy with the hooks.

I like the biot body. I have to add that to my list of year project flies. Very nice.

A biot bodied soft hackle can be very productive. It's been 4 or 5 years since I tied any, and this thread has inspired me to do so soon.

As always pretty looking ties, Ron. I'm sure they will fish great.

Very nice collection of spiders. I like the biot body especially.
