When I was stationed in Korea, I went to the factory stores of some of the fly rod manufacturers in Seoul. Some were like an outlet store, others were just racks of rods leaning against the wall.
One rod I did find in one store was a British named rod. Distinctly said "Handmade in England." Counterfeit or deception on the rod maker's part? Will never know.

A while back I sold several high-end bamboo rods to an antique tackle dealer. One of these rods had one broken tip, and a second tip that was not original. When I later saw this rod up for sale (and yes ... I could positively identify the rod) ... the dealer advertised the rod as 100% original. It seems he had two new tips made to match the butt section. Buyer beware!!!

P.S. Anyone interested in a Granger or two Holbines?

I was reading something in the Trout and Salmon magazine about these rods being sold on Ebay as Sages from China. The gist of it was that the rods never showed up.

saflyfish, note the serial number and verify it with Sage to make sure it's real or not one already registered to someone else or in a dealers inventory in another part of the world. If the butt section is real the rest should be.

Why do you ask such a question?

Your original statement was not posed in a manner that would lead me to believe you saw an advertisment for a Sage or Loomis rod.

I am still curious why you would ask the question, or at least why you asked it this way.
