I am seriously thinking of one of the little portable desks now... That should be really simple. I'm thinking white ash for the top and hickory, walnut or red cedar for the rest.... Toss in some magnets, build it on a box so the desk part flips open for some storage.... Hmmmm... Too bad it's late or else I would start on it....
Thanks for the pics and links! They will feed two addictions... Fly tying... And here recently I've gotten into woodturning, so I'll probably find some way to turn some wood for it....

At least half the fun it creating and actually building the stuff that goes with fly fishing and tying.
I really like the idea of a roll-top or similar desk. Mine is an old writing desk with drawers underneath. It is great to be able to just flip the door shut and hide all your mess. It also means I can tie in the family area where it is warm and watch TV and talk to people, and I can leave a project uncompleted but safe behind a closed lid. Desk cost $50 plus some varnish.
