Default More oddities from "The Highly Confused"

Sine we ALL are right now on our computers, USING a keyboard, I thought this "quite intriguing" or, maybe it should be under the heading of "my medications are making me weirder than even I first thought".
But, nonetheless, the statement below was taken from a clinical study, to determine "just HOW dirty/germ laden, is the average person's computer keyboard"?
    (Article Quote)
"The test was conducted on 33 keyboards in a single office. Of these,31 keyboards were found to have 150 times the acceptable limit of bacteria, which came out to be roughly 5 times dirtier than the average toilet seat. Two others had what they called ?warning? levels of bacteria. Probably the most disturbing were the two with elevated levels of coliform, which is usually found with feces".(End Quote.

My first thought, upon reading these results, was..... "Don't type and chew your nails, or, eat a "samich" at the same time!?
My, second thought, was "Maybe it''s time to clean my keyboard?

    Paul,
I read that article and I immediately turned my keyboard upside down and shook it and little tiny things came out, that I believe had been between my keys for a loooooonnnnnnngggg! time.

I frequently am on my computer while eating breakfast and lunch (meals which I eat alone) like right now, so there are all sorts of 'remnants' of food all over the keyboard and screen. I just cleaned the keyboard and screen on Friday when I couldn't stand looking at the spaghetti sauce any longer (before the jokes start, it was LUNCH and not breakfast when I ate the spaghetti). Like Doug, I turned it upside down and shook it out to get the small particles out from between the keys. I think this is a good exercise for everyone to do on a monthly basis, which is what my schedule is.

Also, there are soft keyboard protectors available for most laptop computers and for remote keyboards, which protect them from accidental spills and from foreign objects getting into the keyboard itself. Check them out here:

The more I read some blogs, the easier it is to understand where the coliform comes from.

    Coliform is EVERYWHERE.

I have always wondered about this one. I do it and I know you do it also.

YOu are at a public restroom and go "number 2" and wipe. YOu stand up and BEFORE you wash your hands, what do you do?..............You have already tucked in your shirt and closed up your pants and buckled your belt. All that e-coli is now on your shirt and pants.(I don't care how "cleanly" you think you wipe.....it gets on your hands.
I would love to see a study done on how much e-coli is on a person's belt.

OK, now think about that all day

That is exactly how it is done. Did you ever notice the people that are sick the most are those that are obsessed with "cleanliness"?

Remember that old rule of thumb used by the plumber:

"S@!* runs down hill and do not lick your fingers while doing the job"!

Now, Paul, I know my wife may dirty up the keyboard but she has a clean mind. She changes it all of the time so there is no way it is dirty.

    Jack,
The good news is that "ALCOHOL" is used to clean keyboards!!!
