Default First fish on one of my flies

I caught my first fish on a fly I tied myself today. In fact, it was a Jeff Original fly and not one that I copied from a specific pattern. I call it the Para Soft Hackle Brown. It's March Brown dry fly dubbing, hackle fibre tail, white poly parachute post and soft hen hackle around the post. It floats just in the surfacr film and looks just like a dead bug floating helplessly in the water.

This little rainbow hit it so hard he jumped clear of the water.

The other photo is my son fishing. Nothing to do with fly tying other than a proud dad bragging a little that his teen age son still likes to fish with him.

    FG,
Yes on the colors. This little guy came from the Lynn Camp Prong of the Little River in the Smokey Mountains just outside of Townsend TN.

I'm not giving away a secret stream as it's a fairly popular one in the park. The bows and browns in these streams have some of the brightest colors I've seen anywhere. They are all wild trout. The Park has not been stocked for over 30 years (maybe a little longer) and all the fish are naturally reproducing.

Tomorrow, we're going up a little higher in hopes of some brookies.

Congratulations on catching your first fish on a fly you tied. It's a great feeling ain't it?

When I was a teenager my dad made it a point to hang with my brothers and I on a regular basis both one-on-one and as a group and just spend the time listening and not judging. I believe it has made a huge difference and to this day we are all very close. I am now in my late 40s and my dad stll makes it a point to spend time with his kids. Keep up the good work you are doing with your relationship with your son. The pay-off is priceless.

Congrats on the first fish on own fly! Great that you got the photo too! You should keep the two together. Well done.

Totally awesome Jeff...gotta love the small streams, and it doesn't get much better than catching them on self designed patterns!!

    Jeff -

Yes, indeed, not only catching your first trout on a fly you tied, but one that you created !!

Nicely done. And it will NEVER end.

That's just the way it is.

    John,
Actually, photos of me break most cameras. The movie star is my son. Fortunately for him, he inherited my wife's, Leslie, looks.
