Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. The foam tube isn't hollow, so that's out. I'm gonna try the barge cement.

Should be OK for a hijack now.....

That backer rod is good stuff to use tying also....easy foam plugs...

I'm still trying to carve out a nice mouse shape too.....

When I get tired of holding something while waiting for the glue to set, I use a piece of scotch tape to take the place of my fingers. Usually works fine.

Have you given any thought to using neoprene "O" Rings...or any type for that matter...They can be had in just about any size and diameter.. Great idea by the way!.

The neoprene ring idea sounds promising. Do you think Lowes/Home Depot or is it a specialty item?

Frankly I doubt "O" rings will be thick enough....not sure I've ever seen any as big as even the smallest backer rod....Lowes& Home Depot & Hardware stores& Harbor Frieght

    Duck,
You are correct. I'm gonna try some Barge cement. Oddly enough I tried Home Depot this morning and they didn't have any.

    Hey SS,
This kinda reminds me of walking into a FULL small town bar and asking the bartender for directions
As far as keeping the backer rod together till whatever adhesive you choose sets up, try doweling with a toothpick(s). Might work.
