Oh yes here's some info on my MacGurple

What?s a MacGurple?
It?s a fly for bluegills that is tied with items not found in a typical fly fishing shop. Does it catch fish? Yes, indeed it does!
Pattern
Hook: 1 ?? safety pin
Eyes: 2 plastic strung beads found in a dollar store. Beads from a Mardi Gras necklace also work well.
Body/Tail: Bernat Disco yarn
Back/Wing Craft foam
Tying Steps
Attach the pair of beads for the eyes.
Tie in the end of a length of ?Disco? yarn for the tail.
Tie in the foam strip pointed past the end of the hook.
Wrap the body with the yarn (being careful not to trap the loose ends) and tie off behind the eyes.
Bring the foam forward over the body and tie off behind the eyes, then again in front of the eyes, Bring the foam back over the eyes for a second time and tie off yet again.
Cut a v notch in the foam to suggest wings.
Trim the body yarn to the length of the gape of the hook. That?s it!

The lament of the frugal or extremely low-budget fly tyer is the high cost of hooks. Making fishing hooks from sewing needles is a time honored tradition. They are too brittle to be bent unless you heat them until they glow. A quick alternative is to cut and bend a safety pin into the required shape.
Beaded chain and strung beads of all kinds may be used for fly tying. Two connected beads makes a pair of eyes that is then lashed to the hook.
?Disco? yarn made by Bernat has strands of flash mixed in with the yarn. The content of the yarn is 67% acetate and 33% polyester. Unfortunately, this yarn is being discontinued. Good news, you may still be able to find it at close out prices!!!
Craft foam is available in sheets at your local craft store. Just a scrap is needed for this fly.
" Fishermen, hunters, wood choppers, and others,
spending their lives in the fields and woods,
in a peculiar sense a part of Nature themselves,
are often in a more favorable mood for observing her,
in the intervals of their pursuits,
than philosophers or poets even,
who approach her with expectation."
Henry David Thoreau
