Default Saw the fish that wrecked my wifes reel

    Went fishing this past weekend.
Got skunked (why do we call it Skunked)

BUT saw the fish that wrecked my wifes reel and darn near gave me heart failure.

some of you may put two and two together and guess which river, but I will not name it here.

The fish is an honest 32 in Alberta Bull Trout, very protected and a must for catch and release, even if it was not law I would anyway.

Water was low and friggen cold, had snowed further up the mountain, pool was at least 20 feet deep and he was sitting in the tail end just were it started to get fast and rough, saw him or her move about ten feet up the pool and then the wind stopped just long enough for me to get one of those holy cow were is the camera looks, it was in my vest pocket, behind Velcro the Bull moved right a few inches and then the wind came back up and I saw his impression move to the deep end of the pool, if it was not suicide I would have dove in and took a picture under water but I would not have been here to tell you all this.. Next year or next weekend if I can make it back to the river.....

    Ray,

Just being able to feel the power of such a fish is a real experience, I would imagine your wife was really thrilled to have hooked such a monster. At the price of a reel?, well that is a little harder to swallow, but her memory of how that fish felt will stay with her a long time, just like your memory of having seen the fish, just adds to the fun and excitement. Good luck in the future when stalking this fish.
