Thanks to everyone for their advice ...I am no long skunked!!!!!!!!! Hit 3 today - 2 where 17" and the one pictured was 21"(legal here). While not monsters I was glad to finally catch a fish on my new salt rod and with my own hand tied flies. Also a big thanks to peregrines for giving me alot of pointers and answering questions.
I can almost taste the lemon pepper and Budweiser now!!!!!

Jamie,
Excellent. That?s GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!! You made my day!
Congratulations. I?m really glad you kept at it, we were all rootin? for ya and hoping for exactly that picture. And catching them on flies you tied yourself just adds to it, and makes it extra special. It sounds like you?re hooked, I?m really happy for you, and it sounds like your hard work paid off. Not one, but three? Way to go!
Did you see them on top? What fly did they eat? They take some line? Who was more surprised, you or the fish? Details! Details!
peregrines
I caught all three in 3 to 5 foot of water in a narrow creek . The first two where caught on a fly of my own design (top in pic) The other on was caught on a white and chart. Clouser with red thread that I also tied.
I really didnt see then because the water was a little muddy . They didnt take too much line however I did play with them a while because I wasnt even sure how big they were ..after all Ive never caught anything on a 9 wt before and Id hate to one in a rush.
