Rod Finish

After getting skunked one sunny morning and actually seeing a rainbow flee the reflections from my rod, I stopped at the hardware store for a sheet of 600 grit wet sanding paper and changed my shiny 5 wt's finish in minutes! Turned out pretty good, too. After that trip I decided not to ever do that to a rod again.

It wasn't an expensive rod, just a Forecast 4 piece that I built. I just felt kind of guilty about sanding it, even though I did a pretty good job of it. It looked prettier before sanding it, so I sort of regret doing it.

Thanks for sharing that experience! I'm very sure that most of us have never thought of sanding a rod and so your story will be a good example for us.
