Thread: Where is all the Hackle?

Default Where is all the Hackle?

I have been trying to buy some capes for a couple of weeks now. It seems you have to buy one from each company as no one has a real selection anymore. Is there a shortage I did not know about? All I want is Whiting silver grade capes in
Black, Medium Ginger, and Medium dun. I guess I can just order one from each company but some I have already ordered told me they were mistaken and were out. Any recommendations of a place to score all three?

Give Denny a call at Conranch. Hes got a new color, I havent seen it but he said hes updating his web site. Im not that advanced a tyer, but I like Dennys hackle. You also get the hackle that others leave out.

I'm not so sure of what they have, but our bass pro has lots of hackle! They had four or five different colors of Whiting Hackle! If you have one close by you ought to give that a try and still they might not have it.
    Hope you find some! BC

Whiting Hackle is hard to keep instock, it sells sometimes before I even get my order in and my back order lists keep growing. When there is a product that good it is always hard to keep it instock at all times.

My local store has about 12 different colers of hackle, and it is only a town of 2000 people, so i guess it just depends on where you go.

    Midstream,

I would bet that a large part of your problem is shopping in small, fly shops. If I depended on my local shop, I would still be looking too. They usually have a couple of grade 3 or bronze half necks in grizzly, grizzly and grizzly. Give Denny a call or if you have your heart set on Whiting products, try Hook and Hackle or another one of the FAOL sponsors. 8T
