Somehow my car just wouldn't head home today. It settled into a parking spot near the waterfall on Fall Creek in my town. I obliged by putting the rod and reel together and heading down the short trail, visions of rainbows in my head. When I got to the pool at the falls, there were six guys there throwing worms and all of them said they weren't catching anything, not to bother. Being in a show-off kind of mood, I said that I'd just try a little beadhead nymph just under that foam over there.....

yup, caught a nice little 12 inch bow. Two guys laughed, one cast harder, and the rest just looked ****** . Me, I laughed out loud and kissed that fish on his nose. That was fun!

Doncha love it? I've caught trout on nymphs on enough occasions when the bait guys weren't doing squat that I'm never tempted to go to bait anymore. Flies are better.

Yea, I have a friend that constantly talks it up but can't produce. It's great catching fish all around this guy and not saying a word

Hey Diane,

When someone tells me there are no fish
biting at all, it's pretty much a challange
to prove the error of their ways. It's
obvious from the git go that they have made
a mistake and are obviously using the wrong
bait or holding thier mouth wrong. On those
rare occasions when I can pull a nice fish
from those "fishless" waters, it is a very
satisfying feeling for sure. Way to go Di.
