I hope you have seen more of the tying sequence than I pick up from the FFM site. Thread wrapped down the rear half of a hook shank I have seen before, done before. I have even handled the odd mallard flank feather...

Where is a picture of the completed fly?

    Cheers,
    Hans W

I agree Hans, I didn't even get the thread on hook bit,
I have a rather slow land-line here so all I saw was a black rectangle. Just a picture would be nice.

Of course they want you to buy, but even a teaser should hold a bit more than a thread covered hook shank...

Maybe I am just too simple

    Default A. K.'s RS2 Quill

    Hi Hans,

Don't know where you are getting "thread wrapped half way down the hook". It's a quill body RS 2 with mottled hen back for the tailing. I tie them in four diffferent body colors.

(You going to the Danish Fly fair? See you there?)

    AK,

I doubt not that you do an excellent Quill Body RS2.

When I follow the link on the FFM site (see first post in this thread) I see a short video clip which has you explaining a bit of the background, then cover the back half of the shank and finally see the selection of a few barbs of mallard flank.

That is the extent of the clip, tried on two different computers, different browsers and indeed two different operating systems.

I also appreciate that you have no control over what is put up as the clip duration. What I am saying is that whoever chose the cut-off point in the sequence was not prepared to offer much

Denmark: For sure. Looking forward to seeing you again!

    Take care,
    Hans W

PS Very snazzy camera setup - I want one too!

And with all due respect to Hans... Here's Bruce's version *chuckle*
I just like the mallard flank tail.

Thanks for the post Hans and A. K.
Love your books A.K. and greatly appreciate you signing my copy of production fly tying years ago.

    Best regards,
