Thread: Orvis CFO click and pawl

I was told if the end of the stem that holds the handle is smooth it is a Hardy and if it has a slot it is from BRM. Hardy did make some of the grey barstock CFO's.

I don't think that's right. My CFO III is from the early '80s and has the slot. (By slot I assume you mean the slot in the head of the screw that holds the handle knob.) I just checked the pictures in the current catalog and they also show the slot.

Anybody got a spare spool for sale, or know where I can buy one?

Cool! Watch me win that auction.

So, there's a machined and a cast version C&P reel? How do I know what I have?

btw I found out my reel is more like 7 years old, not 4 years.

If your reel is 7 years old the body is machined...the spools however are spun. The spools on my reels are interchangable...one is machined one is die cast.

I'm not sure you are paying attention to my posts. I posted earlier machining started about 1992.

    Good luck on the auction.

My memory left me many years ago.

What ever it is enjoy it, especially if it is a Hardy.

I just found out that the last bargin in Hardy reels, the Lightweight series has gone up in price $100 since last year!!

With most Hardy reels now in the $400-$1000 range, I figure your CFO, (if it is Hardy built) is worth a whole lot more.
