Default Fishing the St. Lawrence river

I am camping at Wellesly Island State Park next week. This being an island in the St. Lawrece river there must be some fishing there. I've read a little bit about large muskies, but that seems to be mainly in the fall. I'd like some advice on what gear to bring, and what fish to expect, as I have no clue having never been there before. I will have a canoe with me, so that may open up some options as well. Thanks to all.

that time of year the bass will be spawning and you'll be abed to bed fish if you want. also the many bays will hold pike and muskies, mostlypike. also the weed edge of the main channels between the islands will hold pike too. but look for tribs from the main land and you'll find more bass. also get a map of the area it's very easy to get lost in the maze of islands.
