I use mine trolling and it has held perfectly against some good sized stripers.

    Default Rod holder

    Hey Budd,
The Scotty Rod Holder is great!! I got mine from a store that starts with a "C" and ends with "abelas".(Just kidding since they are not a sponser LOL). They have this repackaging technique that takes older models and sells them as a store brand cheaper. Saved a little cash on that since it only cost $15 as oposed to the $35 for the name brand. Any way the holder has a rubber strap that fits snuggly accross the opening and holds the rod tight. I was paddling under some trees one time and couldn't move forward, because the tree branch had grabbed hold of the lower part of my rod. The holder had held it in place that securely. I also employ a rod leash to keep my rod in the boat( burn me once...). Hey Jed, you know everything is bigger here in Texas(LOL). Hey Jim, Great work as usual from FAOL. This is awsome!!! I will try to keep posting any inovations or discoveries that come my way. Well everyone keep up the good work.
    Sarge.
