on the other hand, how dull would life be if everyone carefully vetted everything they said before saying it! we would have lost all of those good george bush gaffes like "i know you all work hard to put food on your families..."

Reading some of the threads over the last several months, I'm reminded about THIS saying: "There is a reason I was born with two ears and one mouth." In two weeks I will celebrate the occassion of my 70th birthday; born on Crown Street between Schnectady and Troy, Brooklyn,NY

upthecreek,
Holy Sh*t!!!!!!!
You write, "born on Crown Street between Schnectady and Troy, Brooklyn, NY". I didn't know there was a hospital there because I lived on Union St. between Schenectidy and Utica Ave. Then I moved to the corner of Carroll St. and Schenectidy!
What schools did you go to and when? I went to PS 167, then Wingate HS.
Feel free to email me. Lot's of history.

RW here,
Here was one of my gang's favorite sayings:
"Well whaddya know, a 150 pound man with a 300 pound mouth."

"We fish for pleasure; I for mine, you for yours." -James Leisenring on fishing the wet fly-
"The value of trout is simply that they exist" <Frank Weisbarth>
My Daddy always said never to argue with childern or fools, neither one knows enough to know when they are wrong.

Every day that I wake up and everything still works. Is a good day.
While all the saying above ring of truth, the point of my initial post was that something in print, like a post, is there for all to see. Words used in conversation, discussion or agrument can later be said to have been taken out of context, misunderstood or quoted incorrectly.
You write something on these pages and they are a picture. A part of your personal and permanent history.

Or, my personal favorite:
"You should never wrestle with a pig.... you both get dirty and the pig enjoys it."
"It is better to remain quiet, and let everyone wonder, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!"
