Pursued Bowfin again. Caught 5. Had a LOT of Shortnose Gar eat the fly, but didn't manage to land a single one!Fishing near the bottom for bowfin, 2 turtles managed to get hooked up on the fly...so I had to land them. Funny critters. I'd much prefer to not catch them. Both were hooked near the neck, so I feel both were going for the fly. One got itself off the hook once I beached it. The other required a quick snap with the forceps to free the fly. Also saw a number of snakes swimming around and resting on shore.I caught a little Largemouth Bass, a Bluegill, and a few Green Sunfish.I posted a couple of the Green Sunfish above, to illustrate the differences in these interesting presumed hybrid sunfish I also caught:

Thanks, Dale! Say, did you happen to lose a box of flies at an Ankeny pond within the past week? My buddy found a box of flies and would like to return it to its owner. Let me know.
