A few mods to the original; kind of a Belgian Copper John. In honor of Turkey Day (and lack of peacock quill) I subbed turkey for peacock quill wing and tail; unsure of what hackle was used, but the India hen I had seemed to go well with the wing.

hook - Dai Riki 075 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 black
butt - brassie wire copper
tail - turkey quill
body - medium wire hot orange
hackle - India hen
wing - turkey quill


Part 1

mash barb, start thread, tie in wire, wrap to barb




wrap wire forward to tie in, using resistance from hanging bobbin to keep the wraps (somewhat) tight; helicopter end, cover with thread






tie in orange wire; wrap to point




prep a pair of turkey quill segmenst (about 3/4 gap width); measure (shank length), fold, pinch, tie in, trim butts, smooth underbody with thread wraps
