He wants to float the surface, ive been in his shoes on this one before.... When i spin fish i use my fully dressed spinners, or worms... There is nothing more discouraging then sitting there for 2 hours with not even a bump, then some guy shows up, throws a dough ball in right next to you and within 30 sec. Is pulling one in...
He joined a club and is all excited because he sees guys pulling 2' trout out...
I think ill try the egg yarn once i get a chance, ive become very busy and havent had the time to play around with it... However, the flip flop idea is good too... Maybe ill make him a few examples and let him deside...
if every cast caught a fish, it would be called "catching" not "fishing"

Ah dough balls - tie him a Bread Fly. Use common polypropylene yarn. It'll float.

The Aussies know all about Bread Flies.

although i agree with that statement, they pack power bait full of attractants... and pheromones... might as well start soaking everything we have that touches the water with WD40, (oddly enough works great for a attractant ) although i assume power bait is a bit more environmentally friendly

I don't think you could go wrong with foam superglued on the shank

That is another decent option... Superglue does melt the foam... Allowing for a "fused" piece as well
