    Default Tenkara won't collapse completely

    Hi Folks,
Just bought my son a Tenkara Rod but am having trouble completely collapsing the rod after fishing it. Nothing I do seems to work. Is this a common problem? Any solutions ?
    Thanks,
    Steve

There is a video using a rubber band, it works very well. I think it's on TenkaraUSA's site.

You may have pulled to firmly when extending. I have not had that problem. As suggested, there is a video on Tenkara USA that shows how to loosen stuck sections.

Unscrew the butt cap a bit, sometimes trapped air will do that. Also try gripping the rod firmly just above the stuck section and try gently tapping it on a table or other hard surface. This works for me. Sometimes it may take a couple of minutes.

Thanks all for the good suggestions. Tried them all and stil no luck. This happened the first day I used it ,to a lesser degree, and then completely stuck the second day. I was extremely careful to treat it carefully but still had a a problem. When I unscrewed the bottom and put it back together it was even worse. Took it back to the shop I got it from and decided to upgrade and exchanged the rod. No problems with the new rod.
    Thanks again,
    Steve
