Help needed on rod selection

I fish mainly lakes and I want a 3wt rod. I have found a Sage SPL 389, 3wt and a Winston IM6, 9 ft, 3 wt. Each rod is in good fished condition and the asking price is $275 for either one. It seems that the Sage is the faster of the two and the Winston might be good mostly for drys. Will some of you guys throw some opinions my way on the better of the two rods for lake fishing as well as which might be the better buy of the two? By the way, both are factory built with original socks and tubes.

The only thing that matters is how they feel in your hands. We can offer our own opinions about one or the other, but our opinions are mostly meaningless, since every person likes and dislikes different things about every rod.

I realize that is less than helpful, since I am assuming these are both not IN your hands. If you can cast either or both of them, though, you will be much better informed.

It would also help us if you told us WHICH Sage and Winston models they were. Both of those companies have made many, many different rods. I would likely shell out 275 for an original 389LL in excellent condition, but not for some others.

FYI a "normal" price for a used rod in excellent condition is roughly half retail, if that helps with your valuations.
