Hi,

I'm sure I could be talked into a day or two on the water! Make sure you stock up on bead head hare and coppers, sizes 14-10. Very simple tie. Weighted underbody, gold bead head, dube a fuzzy cone of hare's mask, rib with copper wire. Very similar to a gold ribbed hare's ear, but different. It's a good gender caddis immitation (some dyed to olive are good to have as well). This is probably the single most popular nymph pattern in New Zealand. Many streams can be quite fast flowing, with very deep but short pools, and very heavy flies are all that will get down to the fish. So, if they are hugging the botton and won't come up to play, you need to be able to get down to them.
