Normand pretty well nailed it. My personal favorites are the two by Roger Fogg and the Dave Hughes book. No disrespect to the other authors meant.

The Dave Hughes and Syl Nemes books are very good.

If money isn't an issue - "The Art of Tying The Wet-Fly and Fishing The Flymph' by Jim Leisenring and V.S. Hidy

"Sports Illustrated Book of Wet Fly Fishing" - written by V.S. Hidy in 1963 for them. Small, like a handbook but full of useful info

I hope I'm not jumping this thread, but can anyone recommend a wet fly video that illustrates how to rig and fish wet flies?

There was an article in "fly tyer", I think, a little while ago where the hackle feather was tied on in reverse. I like the way thedy look in the water.

Don't forget "Tying and Fishing Soft-Hackled Nymphs" by Allen McGee, probably my favorite step by step reference as far as tying soft hackles.

Allen does tie weighted patterns which are considered taboo by traditionalists though.

    Hi GrayGhost,

Also, you can find some of the old 1800s books online. Pritt's book, North Country Flies is good, and Stewart's "The practicle Angler" is another good one. check out www.archive.org and you can search for them (i.e. http://www.archive.org/details/yorks...utfl00pritrich should take you to a version of the first release of Pritt's book, which was called Yorkshire Trout Flies. In subsequent printings the title was changed to North Country Flies because the information was considered valuable outside of Yorkshire and for more than just trout). The books available here are all out of copywrite and are legal to download. They can be printed, and bound, if you want to go to the expense to have a hard copy. Anyway, many of these books have information in them that is still very useful today, and they are just fun to read too.
