Default Observations from the tying table ....

I love the trash trough!! Love, love, love!!! Only one draw back ... "stuff" is not captured when the ceiling fan is turned on.

Fly tying, with sharp hooks, pointy scissors, and other novelties takes on a whole new dimension when Coumadin is added to the mix!

Did I say I loved the trash trough??

Well Betty, glad to hear it.

The ceiling fan ...here I am in hot Palm Desert with a ceiling fan over my bench..I don't dare use.... with all the feathers and who knows what else laying around...when I get desperate my wife and I gently lay a large bed sheet over the whole bench...then turn on the fan....can't tie then but I get cooler.

turning the fan on while tying is like trying to keep a snowball intact with the firplace lit

    Betty,

I'm glad that you're enjoying the Trash Trough. Now you have me pondering how I might find a way to keep the stuff in the trash trough with the ceiling fan running and still make it easy to empty. If I can figure it out, it will be a simple fix. Stay tuned....

I've got one of Jim's trash troughs .... pretty slick innovation. I'm betting if there's a way to keep the trash from flying around with the fan on Jim will find it.

OK, I'll ask. Whats a "trash trough"? I have a Garbag I bought from Jann's (but not exclusive to them)

Although I think I only paid $6.95 at the time. This is designed to fit on a 3/8 vice stem. I use a pedestal vice, but also have a c-clamp. The C-clamp and piece of 3/8 dowel lets me clamp the Garbag to the desk in any convenient position.

Gotta tell you ... the trash trough Jim made for me has non slip fabric that extends up and under the tying station, white naugahyde fabric over that, (that brightens the work surface and makes everything stand out, and sound proofs the clanking tools), and end pieces, so nothing falls out!! It is so kewl!! And nothing sharp!!!!

I had a bag in an embroidery hoop that attached to the vise stem, and it was good ... just not as good as this!!
