Default Bamboo Rod Blanks and Components

I am interested in building a bamboo fly rod. I have built several graphite fly rods and have always gotten my blanks from MudHole. I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on finding bamboo fly blanks and components. Thanks

Welcome to the best board around from a fellow Texan. Sorry that bamboo blanks are somewhat of a sore subject here recently , but be patient , I'm sure one of the great people here can give you some helpful advice.

Hey raiderhunter, welcome to the board. Just ignore all the opinions on bamboo blanks - all you need to do is read through the forum and form your own opinion. It will likely be as good as any other.

The only true opininion is that we are all here to have fun and enjoy - that's what it's all about. So come on in and enjoy the fun.

Don't be afraid to contact any of the Bamboo makers, they can and often will build a blank to whatever specs you want. H&H a sponsor here has blanks. There are some decisions you must make, ie... do you want to ferrule your own blank or have the maker do it for you.

Another thing to consider, there are a number of makers that offer classes to take a culm all the way to a fishing rod. There's nothing like fishing your own grass!

most of all enjoy the obsession.
