    Default problem with finish

I built my first rod and it looks pretty good. I put three coats of finish on the wraps and finish took on the color of the rod blank. I have been fishing with the rod for the past month and catching some nice fish. I went out last week and got caught in a rain shower and dried the rod before putting it back in the case. I got it out last night and noticed several clear areas in the finish. Did water somehow get in there to cause this? Has anyone had this problem and have advice on how to get it back to the original color of the blank?

    Default Clear areas...

Welcome to FAOL Burnsy, when you say 'clear areas in the finish', do you mean at the wraps or away from them somewhere on the blank itself? Also, depending on the wrap finish you've used and the color of the thread, a lot of times the wraps will take on the color of the blank.

    Cheers,
