The day dawned foggy and cool at 32F. The weatherman said hi of 55 and sunny for the forecast. Sped off to meet Evil Phil at a prime Western NY location. Arrived late due to the fog from last night's rain then drop in temp. Phil was waiting and rigged. This would be my first time out for Inland trout since last July and I was chomping at the bit to pop the cherry on at least one of several new acquired toys since my last outing. Day started slow for me as I later learned Phil was popping them from the get go but he went down and I went up. As the fog finally was burning off I managed to find a bit of a rythym, even if it took constantly changing fly combinations to keep it going.
A bit of scenery with just a hint of leftover fog
A fat 13 inch Brownie
Another holdover football
My best of the day at 14"
The action slowed for the afternoon, but in the warm sunshine who really cares. Even heard one loud unmistakeable "Slurp" during a very heavy hatch of small black stoneflies. I really hate it when they crawl all over the back of my neck! Only 5 weeks to the Pa Fish In and plenty more time to Practice!
