About four years ago, I was fishing a Loch in Sutherland Scotland and as the sun was going down a few wasps were on the water and the trout started to come up and take them, Having nothing resembling them, I decided when getting home to try and make something resembling a wasp and had only been tying for a short time and came up with this pattern. Don?t ask me why these materials but this was the finished fly. Am sure this pattern could be improved upon but it was catching fish so I just tie them the same as the first attempt.
Tried it out on the local river as the light was getting low and took four brown trout in the pound to two pound range and it has produce results on numerous occasions since. Works well as the light is fading for some reason.
