Thank you! Some of you probably remember me. I was planning to go to the Michigan In to meet JC one year and heard the news of his passing. Over the years, I have conversed with him here many times....
Could someone post a picture of JC's bench here? I would like to see it even though I can't make it to the Michigan Fish-in.
Allan,
I am glad that you have mentioned JC. I knew JC from here for years but never had the opportunity to meet him in person. He is a good man, always willing to offer me casting advice. I miss...
This is how I spey cast with a crappie rod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYIo9kpMOgg
Does anyone here use crappie to spey fish with? Can you show me a video if you do? Thanks.
What a great idea! Thanks, Idlerick and Jimsnarocks. I think this will work for me!
Larry,
Thank you so much for the advice.
I intend to use my inflatable pontoon. I need advice on how to transport it because setting it up take a lot of time and effort. I am choosing among having it on a car roof, having it towed behind...
I experimented with all kinds of rods and lines. My conclusion is that it doesn't matter that much, as long as you get the roll cast right.
I use 8'5 long medium fast rod and regular fly line.
I spent quite some time to figure that out. I hope you can learn single-handed speying rather than roll casting.
This is a valid point. I believe the solution to that is to promote fly fishing among the young people. As I understand, the economic trend in this country is that the young people are not making the...
I agree.
One of the things we can do on this website is to share the information on the good but inexpensive fly rod and reel. I know, there are many reviews out there. But most of the reviews are...
Silver,
You have to admit that people like you can afford 1,000 dollar rods, but many people can't. Given your education and profession, you belong to those successful individuals in this society...
It is very true that there are many inexpensive but high quality rods available right now. But generally speaking, most name brand rods are still expensive. A part of the reason has to do with the...
Thank you for your comment. I have updated the third link. As you may see, all three videos I listed here are showing the correct way to double haul. I have seen quite a few double haul videos on...
What a pleasure to have you comment on my post! I want everyone here to know that you are one of these people I met fifteen years ago on this website. You sent me fly casting video tapes and even a...
So many people have said that doing the double haul is like rubbing your belly while patting your head. That scares people, because some people will immediate try to rub their bellies and patting...
Sorry, folks. I want to talk about an old subject, double haul, again. Hopefully this is not going to bore you. The reason I find it necessary is that there are still so many people getting on this...
Steve,
Thank you for your comment. You must be an experienced switch rod caster.

Thanks for your comment. Are you talking about the trip cast? I wish I had a dark background to show what I was doing. The line in the trick cast is not going out straight but in multiple circles....
My nickname is Casterjohn. I am in Indiana. I actually was a frequent visitor of this website for at least 10 years before I took a break to focus on my intensive work. I learned fly fishing from...
