jim, nice looking stuff. I tie something similar, I use small zonked pine squirrel for a tail and also take a couple raps around the hook shank for a hackle on larger sizes and loop dub pine squirrel...

great looking fly, ill bet you could make a great looking shad pattern along those same lines
jim really nice looking frog, you even have a lip on it to give it some motion. try tying it on using a loop knot, it will allow it a little more freedom of movement. well done
good tip rick, you also need to used this technique when tying in wings , bucktail, throats on flies , anything you want to stay in place and not rotate around the hook shank due to thread torque....
